Back to school is an expensive time of year for most parents, especially families with more than one child. It is the time of year that everyone dreads.
First of all, you need to make a list and try and stick to it, if it is not on your list, it is probably not needed. Also check out any supplies they may have left over from last term, it’s amazing what you can find.
Where to Look
Check out the local supermarkets, a lot of them do stock the school uniforms, and they will cost you a lot less. Mark items with an indelible pen, this will save you spending money on labels that you have to sew or iron on, and will also save you time as well. Check out the sales too, lots of places will be reducing their stock to make room for the winter items, buy a few different sizes while they are at a decent price, it will save you money in the long run.
Check with your friends and see if you can do a clothes swap, some kids grow so quickly that the clothes are hardly worn, or they have bought too early and the clothes don’t fit.
For trainers and school bags etc, check out the local selling sites, and check out all of the online sales, you will save yourself a fortune.
Buy plain binders and pencil cases and let your children customise them to their liking, this will also keep them occupied for a while and they will also be original. They will be the envy of their friends.
If your child prefers packed lunches instead of school dinners, shop around for the latest offers, they are always changing, so you will still get plenty of variety. The key to this is planning ahead.
Now when you have all that, put your feet up and treat yourself to a well earned cuppa, and maybe even a slice of cake, after all, you have earned it.
