My favourite day out with my 5 year old is simply going out! Anywhere, even just to the shops, or the nearby playground. We do not have a car and travel mainly by public transport – half of the fun of a day out is the travel. I love travelling & my son seems to have picked up the bug!

Our favourite day out is Tilgate Park in Crawley,Visited here on a sunny Saturday. Expected it to be heaving but the park is so big you didn’t notice.
The farm is £2 an adult under twos are free and it is well worth the money, there are otters, snakes, mongoose, donkeys, pigs, meerkat and birds. My little boy loved the two Otters.

The cafe is really lovely but the food is expensive so take a picnic.
We were there for 4 hours and still have the other half of the park to explore with go ape and the pub looking place and the Lake.
Fab day would 100% recommend it.

Our favourite day out is CBeebies Land at Alton Towers. It’s not even as busy as you’d expect. The waiting times were about an hour in half term, but if you get in early, you can whizz around a few within about 30 minutes. The kids love seeing all the characters out and about, and they love doing a few bits of Alton Towers too!

We had a wonderful day out at Thomas Land in Drayton Manor. We stayed at the hotel the night before so we were nice and relaxed and got into the park really early. It was a gorgeous sunny day (this always helps!) and there was such a nice atmosphere in the park. The Thomas music was lovely, and the kids loved the trains that were dotted about. There was a really good selection of children’s rides suitable for both of my two. (I had been worried my 2 year old wouldn’t be able to go on much) It was really buggy friendly, and the staff were all very pleasant and courteous. Even the food wasn’t as expensive as anticipated. We all had a lovely time and would love to try out other theme parks now to see how they compare 😀

We live in colchester and our local zoo is fantastic, its great for a day out or for a few hours, the kids love the animals and the soft play area, we have an annual card which makes it a cheap day out and they always have lots of fun events to make every day at the zoo different

The best day out we had this year, was I April holidays, when my daughter, I and my mum went to the museum for family activities, then we stopped at a lovely coffee shop for cakes and milkshakes. After we got home, we continued on to the local lake, played at the playground there, had a lovely dinner, after which we moved onto a visiting fun fair, where we went on all the rides we could. It was a very busy, but very fun-filled day.

The best family day out we have had in a while was on our holiday in Eastbourne, Drusillas Park. My children loved the zoo. There is a free educational trail which my 4 year old son loved and seemed to learn a lot. Hello kitty land was a big hit with my daughter too. The picnic area was also lovely.

my fave family day out is colchester zoo, its local to us ( 5 min drive) it has so much for the kids to do, indoor play areas, animals ( obviously) shows, encounters, animal feeds and there are lots of park and picnic spots best still an annual card is only £45 each so we can go whenever we want and because there is so much to do no 2 visits are the same, the kids love it!!!

Our favourite day out was recently on a free local festival. Our toddler enjoyed the fairground ride and bouncy slide and castle, had his first candyfloss and run around wildly with other random kids. We adults enjoyed the music and the baby had fun crawling around in the grass. Everyone was very relaxed and went to bed without complaining.
