Supplements in pregnancy

    Eating a healthy and balanced diet will give you and your baby most of the nvitamins and minerals you both need, but if you do need to take supplements you should take the following:

    10 micrograms of vitamin D each day throughout your pregnancy and if you breastfeed
    400 micrograms of folic acid each day – you should take this from before you are pregnant until you are 12 weeks pregnant

    Do not take vitamin A supplements or any other mixtures that include vitamin A (retinol).

    Chat to your midwife of GP before taking anything.
