Will Jamie make it a hat-rick?
Jamie Oliver has dominated the Christmas bestseller list for the last couple of years but can Jamie make it a hat-trick with his latest offering, Save with Jamie? The book offers up ‘tasty, nutritious food on a budge’ and I can confirm, having bought myself a copy, the recipes are indeed tasty and nutritious. Save with Jamie has even exceeded sales of the hotly anticipated Bridget Jones novel, Mad About the Boy, which as it turns out, hasn’t been so warmly received. Penguin who produce Save with Jamie will be pleased!
Bloomsbury hope they can shunt Jamie from the top spot this Christmas with Great British Bake Off’s Paul Hollywood and his new cookbook Pies and Puds. Fans of the show who are missing the site of the rather charming Mr Hollywood might like to treat themselves to the book, even if it’s just to ogle the man himself.Pies and Puds includes recipes for sweet and savoury dishes, including meat and potato pie and queen of puddings. I’m getting hungry just writing this.
Jamie has other competition in the form of the lovely Lorraine Pascal and her new cookbook; A Lighter Way to Bake. Harper Collins published this title, which showcases some of Lorraine’s most popular recipes but lower fat versions. The low fat chocolate brownies are bound to be a hit this Christmas.
Healthy eating cookbooks
Healthy eaters do quite well on the cookbook front this Christmas, with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage Fruit Every Day. This is the follow-up from River Cottage Veg Every Day so if you have the first, you might want to stick this on your Christmas list.
Other cookbooks keen to make it onto the Christmas bestsellers list include Rachel Khoo’s My Little French Kitchen and the rather British sounding Proper Pub Food by Tom Kerridge. Publishers Bloomsbury has already reported a rise in profits thanks to cookbook sales so it seems we all love a good celeb cookbook.
All of the books mentioned are available at Amazon, so why lug them around town in the cold when you can have them delivered direct to your door?
